Sculptures, Compost Toilets and Hides
Simon Hedger is the local sculptor who created The Dandelion Man, the Owl, the Blaen Y Wern sign and the wood rubbings trail.
The recycled metal Heron sculpture is by Foothold Crochan based in Llanelli who also made benches for the site.
The thatched hide is by Phil at Dyfed Permaculture Trust . The roundhouse hide is designed by Staci Sylvan and built by Oli Matthews.
The Earth Dragon and its eggs (carved from sycamore) is the creation of Ben Burrage.
Paths and bridges have been built by Richard Sylvan, Steve Austin, and Oli Matthews of Gwendraeth Environmental Education. Woodchip from recycled kitchen units has been used on the paths and the bridges are built using wood from Blaen Y Wern woodland, using only hand tools and winches. Among many other things, they’ve also created benches , dug new ditches and cleared old ones.
Thanks to Eric James of Crwbin for the slate track and hardstandings, to Malcolm Davies for fencing and Paul French for the split oak fence and gate.
